As a certified self-defense instructor, I deeply value traditional training. It teaches essential techniques and physical preparedness.
But over the years, I’ve seen something important: technique alone doesn’t explain why so many capable women freeze — or why others live in constant low-level tension, waiting for something to happen.
The issue isn’t a lack of strength or skill. It’s a nervous system that has never been trained to stay regulated under pressure.
When stress rises, the thinking brain goes offline. Without regulation and discernment, even well-rehearsed techniques can collapse.
That’s why self-defense alone is not enough.
Safety must be embodied — not just rehearsed.
